Cessna Citation Longitude

The MSFS 2024 Cessna Citation Longitude (Textron model 700): a super-midsize twinjet with the Garmin G5000, FADEC engines and autothrottle. Limits come from the type certificate (FAA T00015WI, mirrored by EASA.IM.A.620) and Working Title's Cessna Citation Longitude Model 700 Operators Guide written for the sim; performance comes from Textron. Speeds are KIAS unless marked. Editions, the EFB, SimBrief, the checklist panel and key bindings are in sim basics; radio calls are in ATC comms. The single-pilot jet is the Vision Jet.

Takeoff and landing speeds (weight-dependent)

Jets have no fixed rotate speed: the G5000 computes them from weight, temperature, pressure altitude, wind, runway and flaps on the GTC PERF pages (TOLD: takeoff and landing data).

SpeedMeaning
V1decision speed: an engine failure before V1 means stop; after V1, go
Vrrotate speed
V2takeoff safety speed: the minimum speed to hold in the initial climb with one engine out
Vreflanding reference speed over the threshold, full flaps
Vappapproach speed: Vref plus a wind additive (BCA: half the steady wind plus all the gust, 5–20 kt)

Flying it in the sim

MFD GTC home page under the MFD: Flight Plan, PROC, PERF and Direct To for the flight setup steps, Aircraft Systems for the synoptics, the transponder in the top right corner Image: Working Title, Cessna Model 700 Operator's Guide p. 4-10, Microsoft Flight Simulator © Microsoft Corporation, used under Microsoft's Game Content Usage Rules (opens in a new tab), via flightsimulator.com (opens in a new tab).

Load the plan as in sim basics; calls are in IFR departure and IFR en route and arrival.

StepWhat to do
1. plansend the EFB or SimBrief plan to the avionics; review every waypoint on the MFD GTC Flight Plan page
2. proceduresMFD GTC → PROC: departure now, arrival and approach later
3. weightsMFD GTC → PERF → Weight and Fuel: passengers, cargo, fuel
4. takeoff dataPERF → Takeoff Data: runway, wind, temperature, altimeter, flaps, anti-ice; the FMS computes V1, Vr, V2
5. checkV-speeds shown on the PFD tape; SPD knob to FMS; altitude preselect set
6. takeoffthrottles fully forward, A/T HOLD, rotate at Vr, gear up, flaps up at V2 + 20
7. climbAP on above 400 ft AGL; FLC or VNAV; throttles to CLB
8. cruiseA/T holds the FMS speed; request levels as fuel burns off
9. descentLanding Data done; VNAV follows the path from the top of descent
10. approachactivate the approach; arm approach mode; flaps 1, 2, gear, full; A/T slows toward Vref

AFCS status box at the top of the PFD: autothrottle mode and target speed on the left, lateral modes, AP and AT status in the middle, vertical modes on the right Image: Working Title, Cessna Model 700 Operator's Guide p. 4-7, Microsoft Flight Simulator © Microsoft Corporation, used under Microsoft's Game Content Usage Rules (opens in a new tab), via flightsimulator.com (opens in a new tab).

Autothrottle modes (white when armed, green when active, in the AFCS status box):

A/T modeDoes
TOholds takeoff thrust (on a go-around)
HOLDon the takeoff roll: servos off, levers stay where you put them until 400 ft AGL
CLIMBholds the FADEC climb thrust
DESCidle thrust for a descent
SPDholds the selected speed (FMS or MAN)
RETARDpulls to idle for landing below about 40 ft
MAX SPDprotection: pulls thrust back before an overspeed
MIN SPDprotection: adds thrust before a stall

Autopilot modes, as on other Garmin jets:

ModeDoes
HDG / NAVheading bug / FMS or radio course
FLCflight level change: pitch holds speed while thrust stays at climb or idle
VSvertical speed
VNAVFMS vertical path (the status box shows armed modes such as ALTS VPATH)
ALTaltitude hold
approachILS or RNAV approach guidance, armed from the mode panel

Flight-level change: set the new level with the altitude knob, press FLC; expect the A/T to show CLIMB or DESC. Top of descent: VNAV computes it; check with 3 NM per 1,000 ft (FL410 to 3,000 ft is about 114 NM).

Emergencies

Working Title's guide has no emergency checklists. Items marked "generic" are standard twin-jet technique, not Textron text; follow the in-sim CAS checklist where one appears.

EmergencyWhat to do
engine failure before V1generic: throttles IDLE, max braking, reversers, stop
engine failure after V1generic: continue, rotate at Vr, fly V2, gear up with positive rate; the FADEC's APR (automatic power reserve) mode gives the good engine reserve thrust (up to 10 min single-engine); flaps up once safe, then the CAS checklist
engine firegeneric: throttle IDLE, that engine's RUN/STOP to STOP, then the CAS checklist (extinguisher modeling is not described in the guide)
depressurizationCABIN ALTITUDE turns amber over 8,500 ft and red over 9,800 ft cabin; generic: oxygen masks, descend with throttles IDLE and full speedbrakes (no speed limit) at up to Vmo / Mmo to 10,000 ft or the minimum safe altitude, squawk 7700
high cabin delta Pred CABIN DELTA P over 10.2 psi
both generators lostthe PTCU (hydraulic-driven generator) is a backup; start the APU (battery-only start up to FL310)
one generator losteither generator can power both buses through the bus tie
iceamber ICING: WING and STAB ON below 190 KIAS; ENGINE ON below Mach 0.52
stallstick shaker and amber AoA band from 0.8; recover: nose down, thrust up

For the radio side (Mayday, 7700, lost comms), see emergencies and lost comms.

Autoland and Safe Return

The Longitude has no emergency autoland: the real jet doesn't offer it and neither the WT guide nor the release notes mention one for the sim. Textron is putting Garmin Emergency Autoland on its Gen3 light jets (M2, CJ3, CJ4), not the Longitude. For an automatic emergency landing in MSFS, fly the Vision Jet.

Sim quirks

Official items come from the WT guide and Microsoft's release notes; forum reports are marked "(reported)".

QuirkStatus
red HOLD/FAIL instead of green HOLD on the takeoff roll(reported); push the throttles fully forward, not just to the TO band, and arm the A/T after takeoff clearance, not while taxiing
minimum crew is two in realitythe guide waives it: "we'll let it slide"
display reversion modes and most GDU controller functionsnot modeled (only map range and baro work)
Category II ILSnot modeled
STAB anti-ice buttonmodeled, but has no effect
dual-channel and secondary pitch trim, control locknot modeled
spoiler hydraulics and spoiler animationimproved in Sim Update 3 (20 August 2025)
EFB checklistsmore added in SU2 (15 May 2025)
EFB performance and holding dataupdated in SU5 (30 April 2026)
doors not opening for boarding; no EFB tabletfixed in SU6 (13 August 2026)

When ENG DRY MTR PROC shows (restart 15–180 min after shutdown).

Throttle IDLE; RUN/STOP on that side: STOP
Bleed air: APU, or other engine at IDLE + 25% N1
START: hold until N2 about 19-20% or 15 s, release
Wait for the CAS message to clear (about 3 min)
Start normally within 40 min

Crossbleed start

No APU: start one engine on the APU or ground air, then the other from it.

First engine started normally
Running engine: IDLE + 25% N1 minimum
Other engine: throttle IDLE, RUN, >= 32 psi, START
Both throttles IDLE when done; EIS/CAS check

Autothrottle takeoff and landing demo

Watch every A/T mode in one circuit.

Takeoff: A/T armed after clearance -> HOLD (green)
400 ft: HOLD ends; throttles to CLB -> CLIMB
Level off: SPD (FMS or MAN speed)
Descend with FLC: expect DESC
